ERRATUM {DAE Graduation Catalogue 2013}

ERRATUM: An erratum or corrigendum (plurals: erratacorrigenda) (comes from Latin: errata corrige) is a correction of a book or article. An erratum is most commonly issued shortly after its original text is published. Patches to security issues in a computer program are also sometimes called errata. As a general rule, publishers issue an erratum for a production error (i.e., an error introduced during the publishing process) and a corrigendum for an author’s error.

For the graduation show of 2013 of the Design Academy Eindhoven, during the Dutch Design Week, there is traditionally a catalogue printed, with pictures and information of each of the projects with which students are graduating. The ‘tradition’ is that of studio-taken pictures (or taken in an ‘old-factory’ context) included to represent each of the projects, as well as a flowered-up descriptive text.For being one of the persons graduating by then, my project The Other Market would be included in this catalogue.

Though I was not very keen on taking pictures of ‘the cart’ in a studio or old factory building, I agreed upon the designer of the catalogue giving me his word that he would not use them without consulting me and he would privilege one (or a few) of the 40 images that I send him of my project in the streets (how it is supposed to be). As it would be expected, I was naive and the hope was just wishful thinking, and the tradition would weight more than the interest of portraying a genuine representation of the projects: the pictures taken in the old factory building (in which I am simply disassembling the cart) where used as communication of the project by the academy, and included in the catalogue.

After the beginning frustration and disappointment, I decided to make an erratum of the page corresponding to my project, and give it away where my project was displayed in the graduation show. If you are one of the ‘happy’ buyers of the catalogue and want to print your own erratum, you can download it HERE.
